Defend Roofing is a father-son roofing company based in Lago Vista, serving homeowners in West Lake Hills. We start with a free 100+ photo inspection so you see your roof before you see a price. Repairs start at $395. Full replacements start at $7,900 and are priced on the actual scope of your roof. Call or text 512-777-1751.
The city's official name is West Lake Hills, sometimes written Westlake Hills. Chris and Greyson Buster own Defend Roofing, a third-generation roofing family, and our crews bring 20+ years of combined roofing experience.

Large hail has fallen a few miles away. On the afternoon of April 9, 2024, National Weather Service storm reports placed golf-ball-size (1.75-inch) to 2-inch hail about 5 miles northeast and north-northeast of West Lake Hills. One stone forwarded by media was oblong, with a maximum width of 3.25 inches. Hail that size can crack shingles, split tile and dent metal in a single pass.
Wind and falling limbs are the other risk. On April 30, 2026, NWS reports listed tree limbs 3 to 6 inches thick down in Austin's Zilker neighborhood and half-inch hail 1 mile east of Rollingwood.
A quick check after any strong storm can save you a ceiling repair later. Look for:
West Lake Hills answers the permit question plainly. The city's building FAQ asks "Do I need a permit for roofing?" and answers "Yes, roofing requires a permit." Roofing goes on the city's Small Project application, which the city says applies to single projects like roofing, HVAC and window replacements.
All submissions must go through the My Government Online portal (MGOConnect.org) to count as submitted. The city's building page also has a contractor registration form and says West Lake Hills adopted the 2021 International codes. If your property has deed restrictions or an HOA, check those rules on roof material and color as well.
We look before we quote. We walk the whole roof, take 100+ photos and review them with you, including the parts that are fine. A repair that solves the problem is what we recommend. If the roof is done, the photos show it.
The price reflects your roof's real size, pitch, layers and materials, and you have it in writing before work begins. Before the crew leaves, the jobsite gets cleaned up. Our workmanship warranty on a new roof runs as long as the shingle manufacturer's warranty does; it does not apply to repairs. Read more on our warranty page. We hold a 5.0 Google rating from 50+ reviews, and they're on our reviews page.
If hail or wind hits your West Lake Hills home, we inspect and photo-document the roof and give you a Storm Damage Report. We write an estimate, and we can meet your adjuster on site to walk through it. The claim decision belongs to you and your insurance company. If we find no storm damage, we tell you that plainly.
Yes. The city's building FAQ states that roofing requires a permit. Roofing is filed on the city's Small Project application, and every submission has to go through the My Government Online portal at MGOConnect.org to be considered submitted. For questions about a specific property, contact the city's Building & Development Services department.
The city's building and development page says West Lake Hills adopted the 2021 International codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code. The same page says plans were accepted under the previous 2015/2017 codes up to September 26. Before you apply, ask the city which edition applies to your roofing project.
