Defend Roofing is a father-son roofing company based in Lago Vista, and we serve homeowners throughout Georgetown. Each job begins with a free 100+ photo roof inspection. Repairs start at $395. Full replacements start at $7,900 and are priced on your roof's actual scope. Call or text 512-777-1751 to schedule.
The company is run by Chris and Greyson Buster, part of a third-generation roofing family. Our crews bring 20+ years of combined roofing experience.
Large hail has hit Georgetown hard. Shortly after midnight on May 28, 2020, NWS storm reports recorded 2.5-inch hail photographed by a trained spotter 2 miles south of the city, and a viewer in Georgetown sent KXAN a picture of baseball-size hail. Community Impact later reported that the city went from about 400 re-roofing permits in a normal year to 5,488 after that storm.
Smaller hail adds up too. On the evening of April 18, 2026, NWS reports logged numerous reports of pea- to quarter-size hail across a swath between Georgetown and Round Rock, including communities near Westinghouse Rd, FM 1460 and SH 130.
A roof can take hail damage and still look fine from the street. Signs worth checking after a storm:
Georgetown requires a permit for a new roof inside city limits. The city's roofing permit page says contractors must register with the City of Georgetown and apply online at mgoconnect.org. The permit costs $60.00, the city estimates ten to fifteen business days to process it, and a final roof inspection is requested once the roof is installed. The same page links a list of registered roofing contractors, so you can check who you're hiring.
The city also lists when the old roof must come off first, under the 2021 International Residential Code: when it's water-soaked or deteriorated, when it's wood shake, slate, clay or cement tile, or when there are already two or more layers.
If your neighborhood has an HOA, review its architectural rules before you choose a shingle or color. Texas Property Code Section 202.011 limits an HOA's ability to prohibit wind- and hail-resistant shingles that resemble and match what's allowed in the subdivision.
We inspect before we quote. That means 100+ photos of your roof and a walkthrough of what they show, the good along with the bad. If a repair will do the job, we recommend the repair. If the roof needs to be replaced, you'll see the evidence yourself.
Prices are built on your roof's measured size, pitch, layers and materials, and you get the number in writing before work begins. We leave the jobsite clean. Each new roof comes with a workmanship warranty matching the length of the shingle manufacturer's warranty. Repairs are not covered by it. The terms are on our warranty page. We have a 5.0 Google rating from 50+ reviews, which you can read on our reviews page.
After a Georgetown hailstorm, we inspect your roof, photo-document the damage we find and write an estimate. If you file a claim, we can meet the adjuster at your home to walk through our estimate. Coverage decisions are made between you and your insurance company. If we don't find storm damage, we say so.
Yes, inside city limits. The City of Georgetown requires a permit for a new roof. A registered contractor applies online at mgoconnect.org, the permit costs $60.00, and the city estimates ten to fifteen business days to process it. After the roof is installed, a final roof inspection is requested online. If you live outside city limits, ask the county what applies to your property.
Often, yes. The city's roofing permit page, citing the 2021 International Residential Code, says existing roofing must be removed when it is water-soaked or deteriorated, when it is wood shake, slate, clay or cement tile, or when the roof already has two or more layers. The city notes the framing may also need to be checked before re-roofing.
Call or text 512-777-1751. We call back within 15 minutes during business hours, which are Monday to Friday 7 AM to 7 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM, and we'll set a time for the inspection. It's free, it covers 100+ photos, and you keep the written Integrity Report.
