Defend Roofing is a father-son roofing company based in Lago Vista that serves homeowners across Round Rock. Every Round Rock job starts with a free 100+ photo roof inspection. Repairs start at $395, and full replacements start at $7,900, priced on your roof's actual scope. Call or text 512-777-1751.
Chris and Greyson Buster run the company. We come from a third-generation roofing family, and our crews bring 20+ years of combined roofing experience to the Round Rock roofs we work on.
Round Rock has taken direct hits from severe weather. On March 21, 2022, a tornado moved through the city. FOX 7 Austin reported that the National Weather Service's preliminary survey rated the tornado that hit Round Rock and Granger an EF-2 with a top wind speed of 135 mph. On March 28, 2022, the City of Round Rock reported 680 damaged residential structures, with 13 destroyed and 93 showing major damage.
Hail is the more frequent problem. On the evening of April 18, 2026, NWS storm reports logged numerous reports of pea- to quarter-size hail across a swath between Georgetown and Round Rock, near Westinghouse Rd, FM 1460 and SH 130. The same evening, someone near Brushy Creek photographed a 1-inch hailstone next to a ruler.
Storm damage doesn't always show up as a leak right away. After hail or high wind, look for:
The City of Round Rock states that it does not require a permit for residential re-roofing when no roof modifications are being made. If you plan to change the roof itself, the city requires a Residential Remodel Permit. The city does require drip edge, following the 2015 International Residential Code, so a Round Rock re-roof should include it. Questions go to Building Inspections at 512-218-5550.
Commercial roofs follow different rules. The city requires a commercial re-roof permit for flat roof replacements, and for pitched commercial roofs when the decking is replaced.
If your home is in an HOA, check its rules and approval process before you pick a roof color or material. Texas law also limits what an HOA can block when you upgrade to impact-resistant shingles (see the FAQ below).
Every job starts with an inspection. We get on the roof, take 100+ photos and walk you through them, including the parts that are in good shape. When a repair will solve the problem, that's what we recommend. When the roof needs replacing, the photos show you why.
Your written price is based on the roof's real size, pitch, layers and materials, and you have it before any work starts. The crew cleans up the site when the job is done. New roofs come with a workmanship warranty that runs as long as the shingle manufacturer's warranty; repairs are not covered by it. Our warranty page has the details. Homeowners have given us a 5.0 Google rating across 50+ reviews; see them on our reviews page.
When a storm comes through Round Rock, we inspect the roof, photograph any damage and write an estimate. If you decide to file a claim, we can meet your adjuster on site and walk through our estimate with them. The claim itself is between you and your insurance company. If your roof came through the storm fine, we'll tell you that.
Not for a standard residential re-roof. The City of Round Rock says it does not require a permit for residential re-roofing when no roof modifications are made. Changing the roof structure requires a Residential Remodel Permit, and the city requires drip edge under the 2015 International Residential Code. If you're unsure about your project, call Building Inspections at 512-218-5550.
Call or text 512-777-1751. During business hours, Monday to Friday 7 AM to 7 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM, we call back within 15 minutes and set a time that works for you. There's no charge for the inspection, it includes 100+ photos, and the written Integrity Report is yours to keep.
Full replacements start at $7,900. Your price depends on the roof's actual scope: size, pitch, how many layers come off, decking condition and the shingle you pick. Repairs start at $395. You get the price in writing after the inspection, and financing is available through Enhancify. For a fast replacement ballpark, try our instant quote.
Generally, no. Texas Property Code Section 202.011 says a property owners' association may not prohibit shingles designed primarily to be wind and hail resistant, as long as they resemble the shingles used or allowed in the subdivision, are more durable and of equal or better quality, and match the look of the surrounding homes. Check your HOA's approval steps before materials are ordered.
